I was hospitalized in 2015. I did have insurance at the time. A year later, the hospital sued me for nonpayment. I immediately contacted my insurance company, who admitted they had made a mistake and then paid the hospital. I believed the matter was completely resolved.\n\nFast forward nearly 10 years later, I received a notice stating that my wages were going to be garnished for a bill that had already been paid.
