Original attorney estimated the work to send a demand letter at ~$350 under retainer incase we wanted to move forward. Work was completed by the original attorney for ~$490 under billable hours. Original attorney left the organization leaving us with an open retainer and odd situation as we had not decided to move forward.  They continued to charge billable hours as we worked out the transition of attorneys which seems to be in poor taste. Ended up being ~$1,000 for the matter which was originally stimated to be $350 of work. Should have pushed for a non-retainer engagement.\n\nAdditionally, there were issues trying to get a status of the case with the orginal attorney. I also had to request numerous times to get a breakdown of what was spent out of the retainer already. The legal assistant also had to be given the same information numerous times throughout the process. It was a poor experience all the way around. Scott has helped me personally with a close friend who had a major stroke that has left her paralyzed on one side of her body and her needs given the new realities of her living situation and capabilities and the unfortunate limitations that have resulted from the stroke and its after effects. I contacted them in January 2023 to find out if they would handle a case for me. I was given an appointment to meet with Dan Pilka in person. I presented my concerns and was asked to email substantiating documents. I did so immediately. However, after numerous calls, emails and attempts to reach both Dan and Scott I can only conclude that because I’m a Black woman they wouldn’t even give me the respect of telling me that they were not going to help me. How rude and unprofessional!
