That was years ago and nothing has changed with our State. They have never taken any steps to correct this injustice. I am convinced that at the time our State had no legal standing to hang people without a clear charter from the King of England. In 1661 Governor John Winthrop Jr. travelled back to England to formally barter for a royal charter allowing the Colony of Connecticut to govern itself. The King did provide the Charter of 1662 and after that no more were hanged in CT for witchcraft. I keep a copy of your request for pardons for them in my files.
