I was charged multiple times for the same thing, mislead about the time frame of my case, and the costs. At the start of my case I signed up for my services, and was told my retainer should cover everything, and we would be done in 6 to 8 months. During the middle of my case things changed, and I required less services, however the cost exceeded even the 1st estimate that included more work. My case would be put off for months, the turnover in the office was disturbing. I had several people toss my case around to each other. And when it came time to wrap up my case, I was treated disrespectfully because I had several questions. It got to the point where I wanted to just leave and no longer have them represent me. I had to actually speak to the main lawyer to resolve and move forward. But not only did Thomas lie to me about the status of my attorney, telling me she was just a billing employee... Only to have her show up and represent me in court. I was mislead. Ending my services was one of the best things I could have done for my stress, and I regret not following my instincts. We paid our final bill, and expected to hear nothing else. I just received another bill with no follow up. Communication isn't this company's strong suit. We strive very hard to make every client happy, but given the sheer numbers of clients we represent, we occasionally fall short of that goal.  We believe your intentional omission of your name is telling, but since we have very few unhappy clients we can guess who you are anyway.  The inaccuracies of your statement continue from there, so we will address a few of them.<br>We do not offer flat fees.  Therefore every client is told verbally and in writing that we cannot estimate total fees.  You were told the same, and we have copied the following from your initial email. <br>“We will accept a $xxx advance in the hope this case doesn't require protracted litigation.  Please keep in mind the total cost could, and likely will, easily exceed the initial retainer if you have multiple hearings, depositions, discovery, temporary order hearings, appointments, revisions, etc. That amount is simply an advance payment to allow us to begin working the case.  We can never anticipate a \"total\" cost because it is dependent on so many factors - the primary one being how the opposing party ultimately litigates the case.  You could get money back or you could pay more.  It is completely dependent on the time expended on your case.”<br>Second, your case was not delayed due to apathy.  We have all had to bear the burden of a national pandemic.  The Courts are very backed up and will be for some time.  Settings are hard to get, and when litigants fail to reach any amicable agreements, then they must wait for the Court’s availability to make a rulings on each disputed issue.  That increases both legal costs and the time it takes to conclude a case.  Further, the billing related to multiple hearings may appear to some to be the same thing billed twice, but in actuality the same tasks are having to be done more than once.  For example, each hearing requires pleadings, subpoenas, preparation time, and notices of the hearing. It is not the same work, but rather similar work for additional steps.<br>The assertion that someone lied to you about being a lawyer is as ridiculous as it is ignorant.  You should probably consider the fact that in a Firm with six offices and dozens of employees, some employees may have the same name.  <br>Finally, when someone abuses our staff, staff are given the option to respectfully defend themselves.  No employee here is required to listen to degrading personal comments simply because they are employed here.  <br>We are thankful for the hundreds of people we have represented who have been happy with our services.  We are thankful for the few people who have been patient when we have made a mistake or error and let us fix it to ensure they were happy in the end.  We have learned greatly from them.  Then, there are a minor few that we are glad for our own stress level that they have moved on.  As mentioned, “it was the best thing that could have happened” for us.  For what it is worth, we want all clients to be happy, so we are disappointed that you were not.
