He told me he could not file bankruptcy unless I first paid one month’s rent into landlord-tenant court, but when I contacted the court they said no such requirement existed. When I asked him to clarify, he could not provide an explanation, so I requested a refund. Getting the refund required sending a certified letter, and I eventually received only $350 because $150 was deducted for a “credit report” I never received or saw evidence of. I decided to move on, but months later I began receiving invoices from the office totaling about $2,700 even though no bankruptcy was filed. During the consultation he also showed me a nude photograph he claimed another client had sent him, which I found extremely inappropriate in a professional setting.
