When I walk into almost any courtroom in the areas I service, if I have been there before, that Judge and that Prosecutor know that I am upfront and tough.  If I say the sky is blue, they don't need to run to a window and check.  My word is good.  <br>As attorneys, we do not make the ultimate decisions on most things.  We are like the GPS that gives a client what we feel is the best direction in which to travel, but ultimately it is the client's decision in which to travel.  We, as attorneys, also do not sentence anyone to jail.  That is in the discretion of the Judge.<br>Unfortunately, first time felons are not excluded from going to jail.  It is one of the factors that a Judge will consider, but if the crime that the person either admits to committing or is found guilty of committing is of a nature in which its severity demands jail, even a first-time felon can go to jail.  <br>I do not possess a magic wand.  Some of my clients have gone to jail.  Some of them went to jail by a negotiated plea in which they are in agreement and some are sentenced by a Judge after a trial.  I have represented the innocent and the guilty.  I have represented a speeding ticket all the way up to someone charged with Murder.<br>I strive to make all my clients happy.
