This person‘s primary job is to run a conflicts check and then schedule a consultation between a lawyer and prospective client.   They also serve the important function of protecting a lawyer’s valuable time from being wasted in determining whether a caller even is a prospective client.  As non-lawyers, they cannot and do not provide any sort of legal advice or opinions about a case. Generally, when someone is hostile or difficult with a staff person in this position, it is an indication that they would be a nightmare to work with, from a lawyer’s perspective.  <br><br>Most of the competent domestic relations lawyers in this area are booked out 4-8 weeks right now.  Perhaps a better attitude and friendlier communication would aid you better in finding alternate legal representation.   And remember, if you’re rude towards the person answering the phone, your chances of meeting with their boss range from slim to impossible. What should've only taken a matter of 3 months took 3 YEARS because he failed to do his due diligence. He had one job... one. Nothing he did was anything that I couldn't have done on my own. What should've been a judgement for me to get $49,000 (stolen+legal+punitive damages) only ended up being $16,000 (stolen+legal) because although the defendant admitted wrongdoing and furnished a copy of the stolen funds via check, Mr. Long did NOT follow up to see if the check had actually been cashed.
