He lived in Florida while I live in New England.  He had dementia.  I was able to get him into an assisted living with memory care.  I did not have power of attorney and could not get it due to the dementia.  His limited savings allowed for several months of care in the assisted living.  But going forward he would most likely need to qualify for Medicaid. His social security and pension put him just over the Medicaid limit.  Family Elder care helped guide me through the methods that could qualify him for Medicaid once his savings ran out.  Family Elder care helped me gain guardianship through the Florida court system which gave me power to then manage the process of applying for Medicaid.  The process was complicated and drawn out and not made any easier due to Covid, but with the help of Family Elder care and specifically Dalmary Vazquez the process was straight forward but lengthy. All our communication was done via email due to me being out of state.  When my parent passed away, Dalmary and Family Elder care were there to help with getting the estate probated and closed.
