We did most of the leg work with having to get the medical records and had to call SSI to make sure the paperwork was turned in on time. They were horrible about turning things in on time.  When it came time to speak to the judge about my husbands case, our attorney sat on the sidelines and said nothing to help our case, just looked like a duck out of  water. Even though we had doctors' recommendations in writing that my husband should not work. He was facing amputation of his leg, and they still still did nothing. We could have just done this ourselves. He just waited for the decision and did absolutely nothing. The disability process in the United States is a long, tiring, and demoralizing journey, and the folks at DAA know that. But they keep level heads and keep on plugging, all with zero down.
