After a July 4th consultation, I hired her to handle my parenting plan matter (not my protection order, though she gave advice on that too). What followed was one of the worst professional experiences I’ve ever had.\n\nHere are the main issues:\n\nNever in court – She never once appeared in person, only via Zoom. We paid her the same as anyone else, yet she didn’t show up physically.\n\nUnprofessional appearance – On Zoom, she dressed in casual T-shirts, not courtroom-appropriate attire.\n\nParalegal overseas – The paralegal assigned to our case (Bernard) was working permanently out of the country. This made direct communication about our case nearly impossible.\n\nBad legal advice & dishonesty – She advised my child to drop a protection order to “help” with a 50/50 parenting plan, then denied ever giving that advice in court. This damaged our case.\n\nUnprepared in court – Judge was visibly frustrated with her lack of preparation and awareness of required next steps.\n\nCommunication failures – She ignored the client portal (where we receive notifications) and instead sent critical updates by regular email, which caused us to miss deadlines and hearings. Documents were submitted incorrectly and late, resulting in continuances, sanctions, and extra costs we had to pay ($700).\n\nRecent failure – For a GAL hearing, financial documents we sent in late August were submitted at the last minute. She failed to consult us on which GAL we preferred, leaving us blindsided in court.\n\nWe left court feeling defeated every single time. Yesterday’s hearing was the final straw—we fired her immediately.\n\n⚠️ Hiring an attorney is stressful enough; you need someone professional, prepared, and communicative. Chi Nguyen was none of these. You had no objections to this.  The yelp info would confirm we are located in King County.  <br><br>My appearance has not been deemed inappropriate by judge or opposing counsel nor do I view what I wear as inappropriate for court. My paralegal works during office hours and we responded to each text, message, email and phone call from you and your son - even after hours.<br>  You and your son represented yourself in the DVPO - we had no relations to this.  You asked my opinion and I provided it.  I did not advise you to drop your case - you did this of your own accord as you wanted to be able to communicate with the opposing party regarding the parenting plan.  <br><br>I was prepared for each court appearance and the court was neither frustrated nor deemed that I was unprepared.  I provided you with a summary of what happened after each court appearance.  We provided communication with you through the portal, through text, through email and through calls.  You missed the deadline because our email went to your spam.  I explained the process for a GAL and what a strike means and explained why I had to contact GALs for their availability and find out opposing counsel's strike.  Your decision to terminate effectively immediately is within your rights.  We provided the accounting and ceased work.  <br><br>You then decided to write this review because we notified you we would not appear for the next hearing give notice of immediate termination. <br>While I understand your frustration - your review is neither accurate nor reflect what actually transpired in our representation of your case.
