Our initial payment and hourly rates are average for the community and monthly invoices are submitted for clients as their case progresses to provide regular updates of time spent on their cases. Many factors affect the total time spent on a case including the willingness of both parties to try to resolve their issues or to draw lines in the sand. As I recall this particular case settled at mediation on terms the client found acceptable. One issue was left for a hearing before the court and the judge had to rule on that issue. The time incurred beyond the initial hours were charged off when it became apparent the cost of the additional fees would present a hardship. Only two years after conclusion of the case did any concern get raised and then only in this online review rather than with my office. Our goal is to address and try to resole any issues raised by clients but it can't be done if not brought to our attention. The law sucks and it's not a justice system. It's a legal game.\n\nI was fortunate enough to hire an insightful professional who did actually care. He had a very calm, very non-reactive demeanor which was perfect because it expressed patience and an unwavering disposition towards my opposing lawyer who was actively trying to completely screw me over.\n\nMichael Barnette was nothing but kind, patience, truthful (even if blunt. Which is necessary because the law doesn't care. So you're gonna hear fact and nothing else from him, especially with him being on your side) and at heart a good person. Don't forget, this IS a business but at least it's a business where good people are involved.\n\nI owe them a debt for their work and diligence that money cannot pay.
