As a result, I was thrown back with such force that my seat back was broken, and I was in more of a horizontal position. Shortly after the accident, I started noticing a strange smell in my house. In actuality, it was not the house that I was smelling, it was an odor that I thought I could detect.  After visiting my ENT doctor and having gone through several tests, It was determined that my olfactory nerves had been damaged, causing me to have this recurring phantom smell while at the same time, masking other odors around me.
